Description

End-of-terrace two-bay two-storey house, c.1925. Reroofed. Pitched roof with replacement artificial slate, clay ridge tiles, red brick Running bond and rendered (shared) chimney stack, rendered coping, and iron rainwater goods on rendered eaves. Painted roughcast walls with rendered channelled piers to ends. Square-headed window openings with concrete sills, rendered surrounds having chamfered reveals, and one-over-one timber sash windows having timber false external shutters. Square-headed door opening with rendered surround having chamfered reveals, and timber panelled door. Road fronted with concrete footpath to front.

Appraisal

A pleasant small-scale house of modest architectural aspirations representing an element of the early twentieth-century architectural heritage of Callan. Having been well maintained to present an early aspect the house makes a valuable contribution to the aesthetic appeal of the streetscape.
