Three-arch road bridge over stream, built 1567. "Improved", ----, producing present composition. Coursed rubble stone walls centred on triangular cutwaters to piers having pyramidal capping with Irish battlemented parapets having lichen-spotted coping. Series of three "plank centred" rounded triangular arches between rounded triangular-headed niches with lichen-spotted voussoirs centred on lichen-spotted keystones. Sited spanning Tintern Stream with unkempt grass banks to stream.
A bridge representing an important component of the civil engineering heritage of south County Wexford with the architectural value of the composition, one erected by Sir Anthony Colclough (d. 1584) following a request for funds to fortify the Tintern Abbey estate (Colfer 2004, 115), confirmed by the "pointed" profile of the arches making a picturesque visual statement at a crossing over the minor Tintern Stream: meanwhile, aspects of the composition, in particular the eye-catching Irish battlements, 'support the view that an earlier bridge had been altered in the seventeenth or eighteenth century' [SMR WX045-028002-].
