Three-arch road bridge over river, c.1752. Ashlar voussoirs to three equal segmental arches. Triangular cutwaters to up- and down-river sides. Regularly spaced corbels to arch soffits at impost level. West side replaced at road level with reinforced steel joists and modern steel fencing.
An imposing and finely built road bridge, demonstrating the engineering prowess of the mid eighteenth century. The soffit corbels may be remnants of the arch centering- an unusual surviving feature. Sited at an important crossing point as shown by the presence of a toll house on the north bank, and probably replaced an earlier bridge on this site.
