Detached four-bay single-storey former gate lodge, c.1850, now in use as a house. Smooth rendered walls. Replacement leaded timber casement windows. Canted bay window to east facing gates. Projecting hip-roofed porch with timber door having architrave surround. Low hipped slate roof with wide projecting eaves and central rendered chimney stack. Single-storey extensions to west with pitched slate roofs and chimney stack. Stands inside set of cast-iron railings with ornate iron gate posts.
This pretty lodge, which retains much original fabric, was formerly an entrance to Killakee House, and home to the evicted Lady Massy. It stands prominently behind a beautiful gateway at a fork in the road.
