Appraisal

This gate lodge and range of outbuildings, although in poor condition, are important features in the Robertstown House estate and serve as a reminder of the extent of the farm holding and the prosperity of the builder/owner. The gate lodge, designed in a pared-down Tudor style as identified by the hood moulding to one opening, is in stark contrast to the ornate quality of the main house while the stable range, which appears to have been an evolved building, added to over various periods, emphasises this contrast in detailing. The outbuildings retain much of their original character and, being positioned just off the side of the road immediately to south-west of the village of Robertstown, are prominent and attractive landmarks in the locality.
