Freestanding cast-iron waterpump, c.1905, comprising cylindrical shaft with inscription, fluted head having spout with decorative detail, 'cow tail' handle and dome capping. Now disused. Sited at side of road in rubble stone alcove approached by flight of steps.
This waterpump, although no longer in use, is an important feature in the rural landscape and is prominently sited at the side of the road. The foliate detailing (and manufacturer's signature) is of considerable artistic merit. The waterpump also represents the early twentieth-century solution to the issue of providing clean drinking water to a community and it therefore of notable historical, social and technical/engineering interest. This is an intact waterpump that provides insight into early twentieth-century Irish cast-iron ware.
