Limewashed lime rendered battered walls. Square-headed door opening with concealed dressings including timber lintel framing timber boarded half-door. Square-headed window openings with concrete or rendered sills, and concealed dressings having splayed reveals framing six-over-three timber sash windows having part exposed sash boxes. Set in own grounds.
A farmhouse identified as an important component of the vernacular heritage of County Kildare by such attributes as the compact rectilinear plan form; the construction in unrefined local materials displaying a battered silhouette with a failing surface finish revealing evidence of "daub" or mud; the disproportionate bias of solid to void in the massing; and the high pitched roof showing an oat straw thatch finish. Having been well maintained, the form and massing survive intact together with substantial quantities of the original fabric, both to the exterior and to the interior, thus upholding the character or integrity of the composition. Furthermore, an adjacent "tin roofed" outbuilding (----) continues to contribute positively to the group and setting values of a self-contained ensemble making a picturesque visual statement in a rural street scene.
