Detached seven-bay (three-bay deep) seven-storey mill, built 1791, on a rectangular plan. Disused, 1907. Burnt, 1943. Now in ruins. Roof now missing. Part ivy-covered coursed rough cut or rubble limestone battered walls with cut-limestone stringcourse supporting rendered red brick Running bond battlements including rendered red brick Running bond crow stepped battlements (corners) having lichen-spotted coping. Square-headed window openings with cut-limestone sills, and red brick block-and-start surrounds with no fittings surviving. Interior in ruins. Set in unkempt grounds.
A mill representing an important component of the late eighteenth-century built heritage of County Kildare with the architectural value of the composition, one recalling the contemporary Strong Stream Mill (1790) in neighbouring County Carlow (see 10400402), confirmed by such attributes as the rectangular plan form; the uniform or near uniform proportions of the openings on each floor; and the neo-medieval battlements embellishing the roof.
