Freestanding cut-limestone trough, erected 1902, on a corner site comprising carved basin with moulded lip on cut-limestone plinth having carved stoups. Set back from line of road on a corner site on concrete brick cobbled footpath.

Exhibiting high quality stone masonry a finely-detailed trough executed at the Colles Kilkenny Marble Works on behalf of the Kilkenny Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals presents an appealing feature in the street scene while attesting to the period of horse-drawn transportation.
