Remains of single-span railway bridge over road, opened 1865. Closed, 1963, with most of bridge dismantled. Broken coursed rock-faced cut-limestone walls with abutment walls having cut-limestone coping, and remains of tooled limestone ashlar piers over having cut-limestone coping. Road fronted.
The remains of a bridge forming an important element of the architectural heritage of Kilkenny on account of the associations with the development of the Waterford and Maryborough [Portlaoise] Branch extension of the Great Southern and Western Railway line by the Kilkenny Junction Railway Company. Although most of the bridge has since been lost the remaining portion exhibiting high quality stone masonry remains a distinctive feature in the streetscape.
