Description

Gateway, built 1759, comprising pair of cut-limestone banded clustered colonette piers with tooled cut-limestone bands, cut-limestone moulded capping on stringcourse supporting finials, iron double gates having Fleur-de-Lys finials, and unpainted roughcast boundary wall having chamfered coping. Road fronted at entrance to grounds of Clonmore House.

Appraisal

A robustly-detailed gateway displaying expert stone masonry with pretty iron work enriching the aesthetic appeal of the composition. Forming a neat self-contained group with an attendant gate lodge (12404221/KK-42-21) the resulting ensemble makes a positive visual impression at the entrance to the grounds of the Clonmore House estate.
