Description

Entrance and boundary wall to former infirmary, erected c. 1808, renovated c. 2006, comprising of a pair of tall rusticated tooled ashlar limestone piers with pyramidal capstones, with a pair of wrought-iron gates, cast-iron fleur-de-lys decoration, pebbledashed screen walls with limestone coping and chamfered limestone plinth, containg flanking square-headed pedestrian gates with rusticated tooled limestone ashlar surrounds and limestone lintels, wrought-iron pedestrian gates matching design of main entrance gates.

Appraisal

Entrance gates to the former infirmary, enhancingthe setting along the Dublin Road. Its principal elements remain intact including the finely detailed wrought-iron gates and ashlar limestone piers. Gateway has foundry name, Mallet Dublin.
