Appraisal

This well-constructed boundary wall was originally part of the Longford Town jail/prison complex. Although altered and possibly reduced in height, it remains an interesting and subtle example of early nineteenth-century craftsmanship. It forms part of an interesting group of related structures along with the former jail reception/governor’s house (13001036) and the gate lodge (13001034) and gateway (13008001) to the east.
