Single-span stone railway-over-road bridge, built c. 1880. Squared-and-snecked rubble limestone abutments and spandrels, dressed ashlar capping to deck level, concrete walling above with mild-steel railing. Round-headed arch set at angle, dressed ashlar channelled voussoirs, tooled coursed rubble soffit, dressed ashlar chamfered string course. Located north-east of Dunleer.
This railway bridge is representative of the expansion of the railway network through Ireland and during the nineteenth century. The high level of craftsmanship shown in the masonry work is characteristic of Victorian railway architecture. The bridge continues in use today and contributes positively to the locality.
