Appraisal

This well-proportioned house retains some interesting early features such as timber sliding sash windows and slate roofs. The flat-roofed extension, which echoes Mies van de Rohe's Barcelona Pavilion, is an exquisite and entirely appropriate example of sensitive new building in an historic context. The courtyard building and walled garden combine to complete the setting of the house.
