Description

Detached three-bay two-storey house, built c. 1825. Lower two-storey pitched roof return to north-west, external steps to north gable of return. Hipped slate roofs, clay ridge and hip tiles, brick chimneystacks with nail head string course, stepped caps and terracotta pots, moulded cast-iron gutters on painted brick quadrant corbels. Unpainted roughcast rendered walling, slightly projecting smooth rendered plinth, slightly projecting tooled ashlar limestone quoins to main house. Square-headed window openings, painted smooth rendered slightly projecting reveals and soffits, ashlar limestone sills, painted timber one-over-one sliding sash windows. Elliptical-headed opening to entrance door, painted smooth render slightly projecting reveals, hardwood doorcase with sidelights and overlight. Gravelled forecourt, paddock to west with field railings to east and south sides, painted rubble stone boundary wall to north, farm buildings to north and east, approached by driveway from west, wrought-iron gates on painted rubble stone square piers with pyramidal caps.

Appraisal

This house retains interesting features such as stone quoins, sliding sash windows and an external stone staircase to the north gable of the return. Of particular interest are the fine gates and railings within the grounds.
