Detached three-bay two-storey gate lodge, built c.1840, with gabled central breakfront, now disused. Pitched tile roofs. Rendered blank arcades to ground floor with inset square-headed openings. Arcade comprises of rusticated stone piers, with brick dressings to arches. Brick walls to first floor. Remains of timber windows, with bay window over entrance door.
This gate lodge, known as "Rustic Lodge", forms part of an interesting group of Loughcrew demesne-related structures, with the Ionic portico, workers' houses, church, stables, graveyard and gate lodges. The stone dressings create a picturesque and rustic building, which is enhanced by the retention of many original features and materials, such as the tile roof.
