Detached three-bay two-storey former police station, built c.1840, with full-height projecting gabled bay. Now in use as private dwelling. Pitched slate roof with rendered chimneystacks. Dressed limestone walls. Ashlar limestone dressings to openings with label mouldings over windows. Extension to the rear. Cast-iron railings set on limestone plinths, with dressed limestone gates piers and cast-iron double gates.
This building forms a interesting group with the post office to the north, which was built at the same time and in a similar Tudor Gothic style. The architectural form of this building is enhanced by the masonry details, such as the dressings to the openings and the hood mouldings.
