Gable-fronted church, built c.1870, with five-bay side elevations of nave. Pitched slate roof, dressed limestone entrance facade with ashlar bellcote, and roughcast rendered to side and rear elevations. Pair of entrance doors, pair of pointed windows and a rose window, set in openings with limestone dressings and hood mouldings, to entrance elevation. Sacristy added to north-west gable, baptistery and confessional additions to north-east elevation. Cast-iron piers, double gates, and railings set on plinth walls with ashlar copings to site. Outbuilding to site. Graveyard to north-west.
The simple form of Saint Mary's Church is enhanced by the masonry detailing, such as the ashlar bellcote, the limestone dressings and eaves dentils. The survival of some internal features, such as the carved arch springers and stained glass windows add artistic interest to the church. The cast-iron railings and gates make a positive contribution to the site of the church.
