Description

Cut limestone stile, erected c.1870, comprising single cement-rendered vertical limestone slab with cut limestone steps to each side. Set in roughly coursed limestone wall to the southwest of Castlepollard on the Mullingar Road.

Appraisal

Interesting cut-stone feature and limestone wall, which positively contributes to the streetscape. The field adjacent to this wall and stile was the original site of the playing pitches of the Castlepollard Hurling Club, founded in 1903.
