Description

Terraced four-bay two-storey house, built c.1810, and partly adapted to commercial use. The façade is finished in painted lined render with moulded quoins, whilst the pitched roof is covered in artificial slate and has replacement brick chimneystacks. The entrance consists of a panelled timber door with four-pane rectangular fanlight all encased by slender engaged Tuscan-like columns and entablature with cornice. To the south of this there is a shopfront of c.1885, but with replacement signage. To the north end of the façade there is a flat-headed carriage entrance with timber double door. The house windows are flat-headed and have tripartite timber sash frames. Painted stone sills. Replacement metal rainwater goods. The building has a street frontage.

Appraisal

The changes to the Edwardian shopfront notwithstanding, this property has largely retained its 19th-century form and particularly with its distinctive door case, remains of considerable benefit to the streetscape.
