Single span footbridge over a railway track, constructed c.1875 replacing a similar bridge which collapsed in 1873. The bridge is of lattice girder construction and is supported on high ground to the west and a purpose-built stone pier with flight of steps (all built into a wall), to the east. There is a metal semi-circular headed arch at either end of the bridge, both of which appear to be 20th-century additions. The bridge is set within a railway station complex, with the station building itself to the west side of the cutting.
This railway footbridge is, arguably, of limited value in its own right, but is important as a part of what is a largely intact 1860s-70s station complex.
