Five-arch rubble stone railway viaduct over river, opened 1863. Irregular coursed squared rubble stone piers and parapets having wrought iron railing over. Series of five round arches with squared rubble stone voussoirs and soffits having render over. The structure spans Avonmore River.
An elegantly-proportioned viaduct forming a dramatic landmark in the townscape of Rathdrum. The construction of the viaduct, and particularly the arches, is of civil engineering significance. The viaduct is also of importance for its role in the introduction of the Dublin and South-East Railway line through County Wicklow.
