Freestanding three-arch road bridge, built c.1930. The structure appears to be constructed in reinforced concrete and has been faced in coursed granite rubble. This replaces an earlier bridge. It carries the main road over the Aughrim River. The tubular metal guard rails span between square masonry pillars. The bridge is sited at the eastern edge of the town.
This 20th-century bridge is quite an early example of the use of reinforced concrete. It is interesting to note that the designer faced the bridge in stone instead of expressing the then new and exciting material, reinforced concrete.
