Description

Semi-detached four-bay single-storey house with former blacksmith's forge, built c.1830, now in use solely as a house. To the front there is a small projecting lean-to porch, probably added in the mid 1900s. The façade is finished in lined render and painted, whilst the gable-ended pitched roof is slated and has a rendered chimneystack. The entrance is to the north face of the porch and consists of a mainly glazed timber door. The windows are flat-headed and have a mixture of one over one timber sash (with one bipartite) and replacement timber frames with top-hung openers. One of the windows sits within what was the doorway to the forge and the granite horseshoe architrave formerly belonging to the doorway, (which was probably added c.1870), has been retained. Replacement uPVC rainwater goods. The building has a street frontage.

Appraisal

This early to mid 19th-century house, with its distinctive horseshoe shaped former blacksmith’s forge doorway outline remains of benefit to the Hollywood streetscape.
