Description

Detached four-bay two-storey house, built c.1840, now in use as a house and shop. The walls are finished in painted render whilst the hipped roof is slated and has rendered chimneystacks. The entrance consists of a panelled timber door and segmental fanlight with decorative tracery. The small shopfront to the west side of the front elevation consists of a partly glazed timber door and a multiple-pane fixed timber window and is covered with an awning. The flat-headed windows are largely filled with six over six timber sash frames. One of the ground floor windows to the front has been enlarged and has a multiple-pane fixed timber frame. Cast-iron rainwater goods. The building has a roadside frontage.

Appraisal

Though the fenestration has been altered somewhat this building has retained much of its early to mid 19th-century appearance and remains a good asset to the streetscape of this small hamlet.
