Detached two-bay single-storey gate lodge, built c.1840, which now appears to be unused. In c.1880 a single-storey octagonal flat-roofed bay in the style of a toy castle was added. The timber sheeted door is set within a flat-headed opening. Windows openings to the original are also flat-headed with two over two timber sash frames. Window openings to the addition have Tudor-arched heads and six pane fixed timber frames. The hipped roof has natural slate and extruded aluminium rainwater goods. The tall double chimneystack has a castellated cap and a clay pot. The gate lodge is set close to the beginning of the long driveway. The gate screen is a recent replacement.
The original gate lodge was relatively simple; the addition of the toy castle bay has created a more memorable structure which has the appearance of a folly rather than a gate lodge.
