Freestanding three-stage lighthouse, built c.1825. The lighthouse is constructed in coursed granite. The circular shaft is slightly tapered. The cap is enclosed with a plain circular handrail. Internally there is a spiral corbelled stone stair with wrought-iron handrail. Openings are square headed. The lighthouse is set on the cliff edge.
Although no longer in use, this rare example of an early 19th century lighthouse is of significant value and is one of County Wicklow's very few number of pre 20th-century "industrial" buildings to have survived in a semblance of its original form.
