Description

Freestanding three-arch road bridge, built c.1800. The bridge is constructed of rubble fieldstone with the exception of the lower portion of the two central piers which are dressed ashlar. The central span is slightly wider and higher; each arch is segmental. Upstream the cutwaters are ‘V’ shaped. The low parapets have been raised with additional steel rails. The bridge carries the main road over a small river. There are small square refuges on top of each pier.

Appraisal

This early 19th-century bridge is in good original condition and is still in current and unrestricted use.
