Description

Terraced two-bay two-storey house and shop, built c. 1900, possibly formerly two buildings, currently not in use. Pitched artificial slate roof with rendered chimneystacks and some cast-iron rainwater goods. Painted rendered walls. Square-headed window openings to first floor, having double one-over-one pane timber sliding sash windows, with painted moulded render surrounds and painted limestone sills. Render shopfront to ground floor, having square-headed window openings with timber framed display window and recessed timber double-leaf glazed doors with overlight and flanked by pilasters supporting timber fascia and cornice. Cast-metal latticed gate on castors to entrance. Second, more recent display window to south end of ground floor

Appraisal

This fine shopfront retains many interesting features, such as the timber windows, door and latticed gate, while the paired timber sliding sash windows are notable. The building's height and lines corresponding compliment the rest of the terrace.
