Description

Detcahed five-bay two-storey glebe house, built 1805-9, having lean-to porch to front elevation, and addition to north-east. Hipped slate roof. Timber sliding sash windows, camber-headed to front and square-headed with multiple-pane windows to rear. Inner doorway has fanlight. Outbuildings to south-west. Wrought-iron double-leaf gates to road entrance, having decorative detailing, with square-profile stone piers set to splayed rubble stone entrance walls.

Appraisal

This is a good example of one of the larger Church of Ireland glebe houses, built in a commanding location with a picturesque view of Glanworth Bridge and Castle. The retention of timber sash windows and a slate roof enhances the building.
