Four-arch footbridge over River Dalua, dated 1848, of cut tooled limestone construction, having chamfered voussoirs to elliptical arches, limestone string course to U-plan ends to piers with concrete reinforcement to bases. Plaque to west elevation with lettering 'ERECTED BY SIR EDWD TIERNEY BART. AD 1848. Cast-iron parapet railings with coat of arms of Sir Edward Tierney. Ashlar limestone piers to ends of railings and random rubble limestone approach walls with round dressed limestone copings. Weir to south of bridge.
The simple elegant form of this footbridge is much enhanced by the contrast between tooled limestone walls and cast-iron railings which adds textural interest to the site. This bridge is a reminder of the pride and craftsmanship employed in such endeavors in the mid-nineteenth century. The coat of arms represents Sir Edward Tierney, who paid for construction of the bridge.
