Detached four-bay single-storey house, built c. 1800. Pitched corrugated-iron roof having rendered chimneystack and cast-iron rainwater goods. Painted roughcast rendered walls. Square-headed window openings having metal casement window to south end of front elevation and two-over-two pane timber sliding sash window to north of front elevation, both having painted limestone sills. Square-headed door openings having replacement timber battened doors. Wrought-iron gate to site.
This attractive vernacular house retains notable features and material such as corrugated-iron roofing, small asymmetrically placed openings and timber sliding sash window. Corrugated-iron replaced thatch as the most common vernacular roofing material in the mid-nineteenth century, and examples of former thatched houses which have retained their corrugated-iron substitute are becoming increasingly rare.
