Freestanding monument, erected c. 1950, with life-size marble statue of the Rev. Peter O'Neill, P.P. on square-profile render pedestal having marble plaques to the shaft and marble roundels beneath cap.
Appraisal
This statue commemorates Reverend Peter O'Neill (1747-1835) and others 'CRUELLY FLOGGED' or 'UNJUSTLY HANGED' for their participation in the 1798 Rebellion. The dedications are appropriately inscribed in Cló Gealach or "Old Irish Lettering".
