Triple-arch hump-back road bridge spanning Rathruane River, built c.1780, with flanking single-arch sections to east and west. Random rubble stone walls with projecting battered pier decorations flanking central three arches. Projecting string course and V-cutwaters to north and south elevations with dressed limestone voussoirs to round arches. Round arch to east and segmental arch to west.
An attractively sited bridge forming a prominent feature in the local landscape. Its elevations are much enlivened by simple decorative detailing, particularly the battered piers which are echoed in the form of the railway bridge to the south. The flanking single arch sections were probably added at a later stage to accommodate or enforce changes in the river bed. It is testament to the prosperity and skilled workmanship of this period in the history of Ballydehob.
