Freestanding cast-iron water pump, installed c.1870, comprising of banded cylindrical shaft with fluted neck, spout, cap with finial and cow tail handle. Now disused. Enclosed by circular rubble stone wall with rubble-stone coping.
An elegant example of a mass produced cast-iron water pump that features attractive details including a curved handle, banded shaft, fluted neck and cap. It is a reminder of the time before the provision of mains water, and would have been an important focal point in the community.
