Description

Entrance, built c.1880, comprising pair of square-profile ashlar limestone piers with cornices, flanked by rubble stone walls. Infilled with rubble stone wall, having camber-headed red brick pedestrian entrance.

Appraisal

This fine, handsomely proportioned entrance displays a high quality of craftsmanship in its carved limestone and is a prominent addition to the streetscape. Though somewhat neglected, its red brick, purple sandstone and grey limestone add colour and textural interest in the surrounding area.
