Railway tunnel, completed 1902, now disused. Rusticated limestone walls having round-headed entrance with redbrick voussoirs and rock-faced limestone keystone. Redbrick soffits forming barrel vault ceiling to interior, with rendered side walls.
An important piece of local civil engineering heritage, this tunnel is a reminder of the extent of the rail network in the past. As part of the train line running from Cork to Monkstown this tunnel was used for thirty years, until the line closure on 10th September 1932.
