Single-arch hump-backed stone road bridge, built c.1750, carrying road over Glennamought River. Coursed rubble stone construction with cut-stone voussoirs to arch. Random rubble parapet with rendered segmental coping. Tarmacdam carriageway.
Blackstone Bridge is typical of the many modest rural road bridges constructed in the country as part of road transport developments in the eighteenth-century. Its simple though robust construction attests to engineering skill of the time. It has remained largely unchanged.
