Attached four-bay two-storey house, built c.1850, having recessed two-bay two-storey entrance block to east, porch and canted and box bay windows to ground floor. Pitched slate roof with rendered chimneystacks, timber bargeboards with finial to porch and cast-iron rainwater goods. Rendered walls. Square-headed window openings with cut limestone sills and one-over-one timber sliding sash windows to first floor with timber casement windows to ground floor. Round-headed stairwell window to entrance block having stained glass window. Square-headed door opening with double-leaf half-glazed timber door. Segmental-headed street entrance to north elevation having render surround incorporating cornice to double-leaf half-glazed timber door with leaded stained glass overlight.
One of a group of diverse houses constructed along the river, orientated to maximize light and views over the River Lee. It retains noteworthy historic fabric including its timber porch, sash windows and fine stairwell window. The street entrance, set in a blank wall, is a feature that is repeated along Sunday’s Well Road, allowing for privacy to the streetfront and creating a sense of exclusion from the outside world for the residents within.
