Single-arch limestone road bridge, built c. 1820, over Breanagh River. Coursed snecked rubble walls curving to terminate in square-plan piers with tooled limestone caps. Tooled limestone voussoirs to elliptical arch, with moulded surround and having dressed stone string course above. Concrete copings to parapet walls. Wall-mounted cast-iron post box with raised 'V.R' royal cipher, c.1890, set in south-west pier.
Tooled limestone work adds textural interest to this modest coursed rubble bridge. The structure is a testament to the skill of local craftsmen in the early nineteenth century. The post box in one pier is a discreet item of street furniture, which has a subtle impact on the visual appeal of this bridge. The various details in relief, particularly the royal cipher, are of interest as a reminder of Ireland's previous history as a colony in the British Empire. It is also good example of early mass-produced cast-iron ware.
