Description

Single-arch hump back road bridge over River Funshion, built c. 1800, comprising rendered walls with render voussoirs to segmental arch and square-profile cut limestone piers to parapets with rendered caps and render plinths with cast-iron railings having central geometric panels.

Appraisal

This hump-back bridge, known as "Ballyarthur Bridge, is an excellent example of early nineteenth-century construction. The cast-iron railings with geometric central panels are particularly ornate and add artistic interest to the structure. The render voussoirs further enhance the structure.
