Quadrant entrance gateway to Ballygiblin House, built c. 1830, comprising elliptical triumphal arch vehicular entrance flanked by elliptical arch pedestrian entrances. Vehicular entrance having moulded archivolt and flanked by limestone pilasters with plinths having moulded copings and moulded capitals supporting moulded entablature and cornice and bearing double-leaf wrought-iron gates. Pedestrian entrances with moulded limestone surrounds and decorative wrought-iron gates, set in curving coursed rubble stone boundary walls having cut limestone plinths and copings and terminating in square-profile ashlar limestone piers. Detached three-bay single-storey with dormer former gate lodge to east, inside gates, now in use as private house, having pitched slate roof with rendered chimneystack, painted rendered walls and square-headed replacement uPVC windows and doors.
This monumental entrance exhibits ornate detailing and fine craftsmanship and forms a grand entrance to Ballygiblin House. The imposing central arch flanked by pedestrian gate openings reflects the style of the water tower elsewhere in the demesne. The lodge to the east adds further interest to the entrance gates.
