Appraisal

This building is a fine example of a country Garda Station built in the Domestic Revival tradition of the early 1900s. This style grew as a reaction against the mass-produced and poor quality furnishings and joinery of the later Victorian period. This revival is depicted in the simple horned timber sash windows of this classically-proportioned structure. The Revival was a feature of the strengthening regard shown to vernacular traditions at the time.
