Freestanding circular-profile cast-iron pillar post box, erected c. 1940, having dentilated capital.
Appraisal
Notable example of early twentieth-century street furniture, simplicity and clarity of design typical of its time. Functional form enhanced and emphasised by dentilated capital. Unusually without insignia. Sited at a once busy rural junction, would have been important social feature. Increasingly rare as older post boxes are replaced, notable example of post box from early days of state.
