Freestanding barn-type gable-fronted Roman Catholic church, built c.1870, with three-bay nave and having recent sacristy and extension to rear (east). Pitched slate roof with rendered bellcote to north gable, stone cross to south gable and cast-iron rainwater goods. Painted rendered walls. Pointed arch openings with Y-tracery, double lancet timber casement windows and limestone sills. Square-headed opening with timber battened double-leaf doors and concrete step. Interior has freestanding altar to north and gallery to south with the floor sloping towards the altar. Wrought-iron gates set within rendered boundary walls and railings.
This picturesque Roman Catholic church occupies a prominent location which emphasises the significant role of religion in community life with the church as its focal point. It retains much of its historic fabric and character.
