Detached nine-bay single-storey railway station, opened 1859. Closed, 1988. Derelict, 2008, but undergoing renovation. Roof removed. Red brick chimneystacks with ashlar limestone plinth, string course, corbels and capping. Red brick walls with rusticated quoins and plinth. Square-headed openings have tooled limestone block-and-start surrounds. Remains of timber casement windows to some openings. Disused signal box to east, comprising red brick plinth with timber clapperboard above to walls, and having pitched slate roof.
This railway station, long disused and derelict, is being rehabilitated and, although presently (2007) a shell, it is of apparent architectural interest with its walls of red brick offset by finely chiselled silver-grey limestone dressings.
