Freestanding rubble sandstone and limestone circular-plan two-stage folly tower, built c. 1815, having crenellations to top, crenellated corbel table to second stage, and pointed arch windows openings with rubble stone voussoirs.
Typical of the interest in medieval architecture of the nineteenth-century, motifs such as crenellations, machicolations and pointed arches allude to medieval castle architecture. Makes an interesting group with the house, gate lodge and crenellated outbuildings. Visible from across the Ballynacorra River, it provides architectural interest to the coast road, a typical aim of the picturesque movement.
