Detached five-bay two-storey former creamery, built 1957, now is use as a retail outlet. Pitched slate roof with rendered chimneystack, cast-iron rainwater goods, and copper ridge vents. Roughcast rendered walls with rendered quoins. Square-headed openings with metal pivoting windows and concrete sills. Square-headed openings with sliding timber battened double doors to ground floor and timber door to first floor, with concrete and metal steps. Recent outbuildings to east.
This structure represents a stage in Irish farming when local farmers brought their milk to a creamery depot for collection. This building is a typical creamery structure, evident throughout rural Ireland in the middle of the twentieth century, but now increasingly rare. The creamery's closure in 1988 represents a move towards modernisation, when farms grew and farmers, having their own larger fixed milk collection tanks, no longer required the use of creameries. This structure provides a social and economic insight into rural farming in twentieth century Ireland.
