Description

Double-arch road bridge, built c.1820, spanning river Briny River, having V-cutwaters to upstream and downstream elevations. Rubble stone walls with solider cappings to the parapet walls. Roughly dressed stone voussoirs to segmental-headed arches.

Appraisal

Bride's Bridge is a well-designed structure, now carrying far greater traffic that its original builders could have imagined, and is a testament to the skills of the nineteenth-century craftsmen and engineers involved in its construction.
